ANGLER MANAGEMENT

    Your Guide

Guide Derek Hendrickson grew up in the foothills of Northern California and has been an avid fly fisherman for most of his life.  He began fishing at a young age and a trip to Montana changed his life.  Derek found fly fishing to be the most exciting, therapeutic, and rewarding aspect of angling.  One thing he found more pleasing than landing a fish himself was putting others on fish.  Derek can take you to native Trout and Steelhead of the Yuba River or Striper and Steelhead of the Lower American River.  He also guides the scenic canyons of the Middle Fork of the American River where there is an abundance of greedy wild Rainbows and Browns willing to take a fly.
Derek was raised in Foresthill and considers the Middle Fork and its tributaries his home waters. He began fly fishing at a very young age with a hand me down bamboo rod passed down from his great grandfather, which he still has. He has been blessed to be raised in a family that believes in respecting the outdoors and all that it has to offer.  He has taken those lessons and is now passing them on to his two young sons.
His father was a canoe fanatic and he had to endure many famed stories about trips he's done especially on the Trinity. Like most boys, Derek wanted to be like his dad and took to paddling around in their canoe on local rivers, streams, and lakes. He purchased a drift boat and has made it a quest to float all the famed rivers of the west.  The Yuba, Lower American, Middle Fork of the American, Feather and the Lower Sacramento are the rivers he spends the most time on now.  Derek lives in Lincoln, CA with his wife and two future anglers.
